November 13, 2008Tomorrow is the big day. We go to the hospital tonight so they can start Ashley on all the meds necessary to enduce labor in the morning. We are so very excited and have been doing the final prep work around home all week. I will updating constantly via my twitter page…go to it here. This is just the easiest way to give a play by play account.
Keep us in your prayers and be looking for the first photo tomorrow sometime!!
big game.
October 27, 2008our new campaign for will.
October 25, 2008big time catch-up.
October 23, 2008This blog has begun to look like I have put it out to pasture…ah, but I have not. This has been a super busy month in every aspect of my little world. The band has been gone like crazy winding up our year and we have been doing a lot of doctor’s visits in prep for the soon to be arriving William -insert middle name here- Stapleton…all of which have gone well. Ashley is really in that “I’m tired of being pregnant” stage. Her back has been killing her and I am predicting that our doctor visit next tuesday will mark the beginning of her maternity leave from work…it’s coming. Honestly, I kinda want her at home chilling out for a few weeks before the big day…she’s been a trooper.
We had a baby shower here at our church and also one in Fitzgerald…both were great. Things like these remind you of how much you are loved and cared for. We were blown away at everyone’s generosity. I never knew you had to have so many things for something so small.
And, in the middle of all this we have…the election. I am ready for this to be over, honestly and am tired of all the blah, blah from everyone involved.
Lastly, I am making my yearly trek through the entire “Friends” DVDs…currently on Season 3.
fireproof.
October 6, 2008Sunday after morning worship our sunday school class went to see “Fireproof”, the new movie from Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga…my idea, by the way. Anyway, the movie was great and I really think that what this church is doing is really, really cool. Who would have ever thought that a church making movies based on the christian faith would be playing in theatres nationwide…how awesome is that.
I thought the movie was great and even better than their previous movie, “Facing the Giants”…probably because there were more professional actors like Kirk Cameron in this movie. Now, not all the actors are professional and there are some who are sub-par but the message of the movie is what is central and is the real star of the film. We all came away saying that all married couples should see this together. I especially enjoyed hearing songs in the movie from some of my favorite CCM artists like John Waller, Casting Crowns and Warren Barfield.
So grab your wife or anyone for that matter and go check this movie out and support this awesome ministry this church has. Keep in mind that the more successful their movies are, the more they will be able to make and the better the movies will be.
parenting class.
October 6, 2008This past Saturday Ashley and I went to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham (where we are having our child) and participated in the day long parenting class. It was interesting to say the least. The class was informational and detailed if you know what I mean. The morning session was mainly about child birth, the signs of labor and of course the infamous birth video in all it’s glory. Right after the video, which was not bad at all, all the moms in the room were wiping tears away…it was very sweet to see the parents with their newly born child. It really hit home that we will soon be doing this ourselves.
I think the part I learned the most about was newborn care. I didn’t know you couldn’t just take a baby’s clothes off and bath it…apparently you have to keep them wrapped up and clean one area at a time. Glad I learned that. It was a cool day to learn a little more about what is coming our way.
not sure.
October 1, 2008With all the recent drama over the $700 billion bailout everyone seems to have an opinion. Well, guess what…I don’t have one really. I do think that it is probably necessary to save our tail but it stinks that its come to this point. So, there in lies my non-opinion, er, opinion. It did pass congress so we’ll see what happens next. If you have an opinion…by all means, share it the comments section.

September 22, 2008big week, big month, big year.
September 18, 2008So I was saying the other day that if I could just get through October I would be able to rest…then Ashley reminded me that our son will be here in November!! I don’t think I will be getting much rest then. Oh Well, I’ll sleep when I die!
The next few months are really some of the most exciting times of my life because of my soon to be born first child, Will. I can’t put into words how excited I am! My new buddy and “Mini-me” will be here soon!!!!!!
9/11
September 11, 2008
I know every blogger in the blogging world is probably going to post today about 9/11 and I’m gonna have to go ahead and lump myself in with them. I can’t believe it has been 7 years. I remember where I was like it was yesterday. I had a morning class at JSU and when I walked in everyone was talking about the first plane and I remember them saying it had flown into the world trade center and I was like “OK…yeah, it did.”
Then after class I went to our student commons area to eat and there were people everywhere surrounding the TVs. Once I saw the actual footage it hit me that this was for real and we were under attack. I had never known what that felt like but I immediately thought about my dad who was on the road through Atlanta. By this time, however, all flights were grounded. He actually had to go pick up some friends who were dropped in Atlanta. Our baseball practice was cancelled that day and rightfully so. I remember our coach saying he wanted to be home when his kids returned from school to answer whatever questions they had. It was such an unbelievable day. I watched as both towers fell and just couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I had heard a family friend who was a veteran say before that he would go back to war to keep that stuff from being here…but now it was. I have since then been to Ground Zero and that really put the whole thing into perspective for me even more. So much was lost and I saw it.
I do believe that we are safer now than then and really hope that we continue to advance in the fight against terror. It’s so hard because at times we can’t identify our enemy. Since this is a political time I have heard some say that they wish Americans would rally together again as we did then in spite of political affiliation but my thoughts on that are a little different. I wish we would as people turn to God the way the world did then.
